George's Story...
The Chubby Quail Brand logo holds a special place in our hearts. The quail in our logo is named "George."
George gets his special name from the George'(s) that have come before us. In 1950, George Brocke Sr. started our family business and named it George F. Brocke & Sons, Inc., Which is still in business today; shipping bulk peas, lentils, and chickpeas domestically and internationally. As you can probably guess from the name of our business, George had 3 sons: George Jr., Darrel and Eugene. All three of them helped get the family business up and running in the small town Kendrick, ID.

Inspired by the amounts of quail roaming around the facility; it was during this second generation that the "Top Notch Brand" was born; the official brand of George F. Brocke & Sons, Inc. George Jr's son, Dean and Darrel's two sons Mike and Jim all took part in the family business when they came of age and eventually grew to take on leadership roles. It was during this third generation that international trade became of the our specialties. The "Top Notch Brand" was (and still is today) shipped to Spain, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Malaysia and many other countries around the world. As the fourth generation has now come into the legacy, Dean's son Bert has recently followed in his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather's footsteps and became company president.
New George
For almost 75 years, our family has been able to keep George Sr's authenticity and family values in everything we do. When our family decided to start a small-pack line that would be offered to local grocery stores, we needed a new logo design, but wanted to use something off the original "Top Notch Brand" logo. Everyone agreed that the "Quail" itself is what represented us best. So, with a little help we were able to finally come up with a fun, light hearted, cheerful, and commemorative design. The quail on the "Chubby Quail Brand" packaging is the same quail that has been shipped around the world for over 50 years. We modernized him a bit, and brought him back up to speed from the 70's. After some special men in our lives were name "George," it was obvious what we should name the quail in our new design.
George the Chubby Quail has been to so many places and is very well known in multiple countries.
